Lysimachia is a plant that typically does not flower or produce seeds in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, so it is commonly propagated through cuttings. In some regions, ramet propagation is also used. When using cuttings, the first step is to prepare a nutrient-rich soil mix for the seedbed. The recommended formula consists of 70% garden soil, 15% decomposed organic compost, and 15% alfalfa ash. Seedlings can be raised by sowing in trays filled with this well-mixed soil. After watering the bottom of the tray, take 3 to 5 healthy shoots from a vigorous mother plant—each about 10 cm long, with 2 unfolded leaves. Soak the cut ends in a solution of naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) at a concentration of 1000 mg/l for 5 minutes before planting. On sunny days, water the seedlings several times a day to maintain proper moisture, and protect them from heavy rain. Under suitable temperatures, fibrous roots will begin to develop within 3 days, and the cuttings can be transplanted after about 15 days.
Since Lysimachia can be harvested multiple times during its growth cycle, which is relatively long, it's important to apply a base fertilizer during site preparation. A typical rate is 1500–2000 kg of organic manure per 667 square meters. Planting density should range between 6,000 to 8,000 plants per 667 square meters, with spacing of 20–30 cm between each plant. After planting, ensure timely watering to help the seedlings establish roots, and use shade nets during hot summer months to protect young plants.
Loosestrife can be planted throughout the year, but the best time to transplant seedlings is between April and September, when conditions are most favorable for growth. This method ensures strong establishment and better yield.
