Silage feeding method

Silage can complete the fermentation process after 30-40 days, at which point the cellar can be opened.

1. Layered reclaiming: When taking silage, start from one end of the pit, and take it down from the surface layer by layer with a certain thickness, so that the silage always maintains a flat surface. Use silage to avoid mixing of dirt and debris.

2, take the appropriate amount: each take the amount of silage to feed enough for 1 day, do not feed a long-term feeding, so as not to cause feed rot deterioration. The dosage depends on the age of the animal, the level of production, and the condition of the body. Generally, the goat feeds 1.5-2.5 kg per day. In addition, the thickness of each withdrawal should not be less than 7 cm, otherwise it will cause secondary fermentation.

3. Sealing in time: The cellar should be sealed in time after taking the material to prevent deterioration of the silage when it is exposed to the air for a long time.

4, from less to more feeding: silage has a sour taste, when the beginning of feeding, some livestock are not accustomed to feeding, the amount of feeding should be from less to more, gradually increase, so that it has a process of adaptation. Pregnant animals should be fed less, and should be stopped late in pregnancy to prevent abortion; frozen silage must be frozen before feeding. After the silage is deteriorated, it should be taken out and discarded in time to avoid causing livestock poisoning or other diseases.

5. Reasonable collocation: Although silage is a high-quality roughage, it cannot be used as the sole feed for livestock and must be properly fed with other feeds such as concentrate feed and hay to ensure the nutritional needs of livestock.

6. Acid treatment: Silage with excessive acidity should be treated first. Use 5-10% lime water and refeed, or add 12% baking soda solution to reduce the acidity.
