Warm shed pigs must pay attention

In winter, the temperatures inside the shed can be quite low, and sunlight is limited. This leads to a significant temperature difference between the inside and outside of the structure, causing condensation on the plastic film and reducing insulation effectiveness. To prevent cold air from entering, you can hang a quilt or straw curtain at the entrance of the shed. It's also important to regularly check the plastic film for any holes or damage, and repair them promptly. Covering the roof with an extra layer of plastic film at night can help improve insulation. Additionally, it's beneficial to train pigs to defecate and urinate in specific areas to avoid freezing in the urine pit. In a closed greenhouse, moisture tends to accumulate, leading to high humidity, which can affect temperature control. It’s recommended to ventilate daily based on weather conditions. During the daytime, especially between 10 am and 2 pm when temperatures are higher, open the sunroof and ventilation holes for about 30 to 60 minutes each time. If available, installing air conditioners or fans can help regulate humidity more effectively. Laying dry bedding on the ground, mixing ash or dry soil into the floor, and using absorbent cloths to wipe water droplets from the plastic film can also reduce moisture. Ensure that the cement floor has a slight slope so that waste can easily flow into the urine pit and be removed promptly. Harmful gases such as methane, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide can build up in greenhouses, increasing the risk of pig diseases. To mitigate this, make sure to open the sunroof and ventilation holes regularly to release these gases and bring in fresh air. Pig manure is a major source of these harmful gases, so it should be removed frequently to keep the area clean and dry. Maintain cleanliness in feeding areas, washing troughs and utensils with boiling water regularly. Avoid leaving leftover feed after each meal to prevent spoilage and gas production. Keep tools and equipment separate and sterilize them regularly to eliminate any bad odors caused by decomposing materials.
