days of fall:: 26

It's funny how moments like these feel like they've been crafted by life itself. The kind where everything falls into place just right, but not so perfectly that it feels rehearsed. This Halloween, I finally got the chance to take my little one Trick-or-Treating for the very first time. It was such a treat—for both of us! The day had been spent preparing—fitting costumes, decorating bags, and making sure everything was just right. Baby Blue's costume was spot-on, and her personalized bag felt like the perfect accessory to the whole ensemble. We met up with some friends, and the vibe was so easygoing. There wasn't any pressure, just the joy of exploring our neighborhood together under the crisp autumn sky. We started off at a slower pace, enjoying the camaraderie and the thrill of walking through familiar streets transformed by the holiday spirit. Baby Blue was thrilled to have her cousin tagging along. They’ve always had a special bond, and seeing them laugh together made the evening even sweeter. Of course, no adventure is complete without its fair share of hiccups. At one point, there was a minor mishap—a clown's shoe broke, which sent Baby Blue into a fit of giggles. It was chaotic yet hilarious. As we continued, the atmosphere grew more festive. Some houses were decked out with classic Halloween decor, while others took things to another level with elaborate setups complete with zombies, chainsaws, and fake graves. It was a bit much for some of us, but the kids didn’t seem to mind. One particular house stood out. It was the epitome of over-the-top Halloween decor, with strobe lights and actors in full costume. The adults were entertained, but it was all a bit too intense for the kids. I found myself helping Baby Blue collect candy from a rather blood-covered hand, which made me question my decision to visit at night. Still, it was all in good fun, and later, we came back sans kids to experience the full spectacle. As the evening wore on, Baby Blue became a seasoned Trick-or-Treater. She confidently navigated her way up to each house, proudly collecting her loot. By the time we headed back for the after-party, her little legs were tired, and the weight of all that candy was becoming apparent. She looked like a mini-candy zombie by the end of it! Back home, we indulged in caramel apples—my personal favorite. Briony, who earlier had been the clown, eagerly grabbed a green apple to dip. Sharing wasn’t exactly everyone’s game that night—I kept mine to myself, thank you very much. But it was worth it to watch Baby Blue enjoy every bite. By the time we finished, Baby Blue was practically asleep on her feet. The sugar rush hit hard, and soon enough, she was out cold. It was bittersweet to see her fall asleep so quickly, but knowing she'd wake up refreshed in the morning made it easier to handle. I hope your Halloween was just as sweet—filled with laughter, candy, and unforgettable moments. Looking forward to next year already!
