Cow paratyphoid fever can occur throughout the year, but it is more common in the fall to early winter, and occurs mostly in yaks less than 40 days of age. It is also known as typhoid paratyphoid fever. Cow Paratyphoid is a septicaemia caused by Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella Dublin. It can contaminate water sources, forage grasses, etc. through diseased cattle's feces and secretions. It is transmitted through the digestive tract.
There are two types of the disease. The acute type of diseased cattle is depressed, with severe diarrhea, fecal odor, and blood-stained. The diseased cows do not eat or drink. They have systemic symptoms, body temperature is above 40°C, and they die 2 to 3 days after onset. Chronic type diseased cattle sometimes have no appetite, diarrhea is intermittent, body temperature is high or low, no food or drink when high fever occurs, appetite appears after fever, cough, pneumonia symptoms are obvious, and some joints are swollen and inflamed, resulting in claudication.
Prevention: First, take care of the disinfection of the umbilical cord, feeding equipment, barn, sports grounds to be cleaned, washed, and regularly disinfected with 1% of fire alkali water. Second, use 1 g of chlortetracycline once orally, take 3 times a day for 5 days. Three, with 800,000 international units of penicillin, streptomycin 1 million international units, an intramuscular injection, 2 injections a day, continuous injection for 5 days.
