Scientific preparation of meat pigeon feed

To scientifically raise meat pigeons must fully understand the nutritional needs of the pigeons and the nutritional characteristics of a variety of feeds, and scientifically formulate rations to improve its production performance, reduce costs and increase efficiency.
First, the nutritional needs of meat pigeons
1. Protein: An important component of pigeon body tissue and pigeon eggs. The average protein content of meat pigeons is 12%-15%. It is easy to cause metabolic diseases if the content is too high; if the content is too low, it cannot meet the normal growth and development of breeding pigeons and breeding offspring. General diets should use 2-4 cereal seeds with 1-2 seeds.
2. Carbohydrates: The most nutritious ingredients in the meat pigeon diet. In general cereals, 70%-80% are carbohydrates.
3. Fat: contains some unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and peanut oleic acid, etc.), and is an essential fatty acid. It is directly supplied by feed. If it lacks, it may cause the growth and development of meat pigeons to be delayed or even die. However, fat should not be excessive. In practice, especially in the summer, do not feed high-fat diets. Linseeds, hemp seeds, soybeans, peanuts, etc. have higher feed fat content and must be controlled in the diet.
4. Minerals: There are many types of calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and chlorine. Bone meal and shellfish powder are the main sources of calcium and phosphorus. Salt is the source of sodium and chlorine. In the absence of minerals, it is easy to affect growth, reproduction, disease resistance, immunity, etc. Therefore, health sand should be added during feeding.
5. Vitamins: mainly regulate the body's metabolism. The types and contents of vitamins used in natural feeds are insufficient. Therefore, vitamins for birds must be added to their diets to ensure normal growth and development of meat pigeons.
Second, commonly used feed types and proportions
1. Guzhen feed: corn (25% - 65% of diets), sorghum (10% - 40%), wheat (25% - 45%), barley (70%), rice (5% - 10%), buckwheat (5%-10%).
2. Beans feed: peas (70% of diets), peanuts (10%-15%), soybeans (5%-10%), mung beans (70%), and broad beans (less than 10%).
3. Green feed: all kinds of leaves such as cabbage, spinach, cabbage, lettuce, etc. and lanceola, non-toxic wild grass, bean leaves, leaves, etc., usually 1-2 times a week.
4. Mineral feed: common salt, shell powder, slaked lime, gypsum, eggshell powder, bone meal, charcoal, red clay, sand, limestone powder. Commonly used health sand supply.
