Osteoporosis is a common chronic disease, known as the "silent killer". It is characterized by decreased bone mass, increased bone fragility and increased fracture risk, which threatens the health of the elderly. According to the "White Paper on Osteoporosis Prevention and Control in China", the total prevalence of osteoporosis in China's population over 50 years old is 15.7%, at least 69.44 million people suffer from osteoporosis, and 210 million people have lower bone mass than normal. standard.
For more than five years, the team has conducted a lot of research on the basic and clinical aspects of hereditary diseases such as oral cavity and bone, and found the research value of ATP6V1H gene. By constructing the ATP6V1H knockout mouse model, they confirmed that this gene is deficient in bone loss in mice and is closely related to the function of the gene affecting osteoclasts. The analysis of the genome-wide data of 1625 Chinese populations showed that the ATP6V1H gene was associated with a decrease in human bone density, indicating that this gene is involved in the occurrence of osteoporosis.
Experts pointed out that the ATP6V1H gene is likely to become a new target for future drug treatment of osteoporosis, bringing new hope for human relief or cure of osteoporosis. The research also received full support and cooperation from Tulan University and Xi'an Jiaotong University.
