Hormones API export market recovery Coastal provinces leading exports

China is an important producer and exporter of hormonal APIs. According to statistics from China Customs, the export of hormonal APIs was 419.58 tons in the first half of this year, a year-on-year decrease of 5.29%; the export value was 297 million US dollars, an increase of 15.98% over the same period of last year. In the first half of this year, the export market has fully recovered and the market scale of major export varieties has continued to expand.

The export of hormonal APIs is dominated by general trade. According to statistics from China Customs, the proportion of hormonal raw materials exported in the first half of the year was 99.07%, and the processing trade export accounted for only 0.75%.

State-owned and private enterprises are the main force for exports. In the first half of the year, the export value of state-owned and privately-owned hormonal raw material medicines accounted for 73.2%, becoming the main force in the export market. Among them, private enterprises accounted for 50.68% of the total export volume, occupying half of the market share.

Coastal provinces lead the export of hormone products. Zhejiang, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong rank the top five in terms of export of hormone products in the first half of the year.

The Asian and European markets are equally divided, and their exports to emerging markets are growing steadily. According to statistics from China Customs, in the first half of the year, the major export markets of China's hormonal APIs were in Asia and Europe, with exports to these two regions totaling US$234 million, accounting for 78.57% of China’s total exports of hormonal APIs. As an emerging export market for hormone drugs, Latin America has maintained a good momentum of development in recent years.
