Origin:

Native to tropical America, Zhanjiang is now widely introduced.

Morphological characteristics:

Evergreen shrubs or small trees, branches spreading; two pinnately compound leaves, obliquely lanceolate; leaflets axillary, ca. 3 cm in diam., filaments dark red, very numerous. It blooms all year round, and its flowers are beautiful.

The ancient poems praised the hibiscus flowers: “The poor woods are dying, and they see the new branches.” This poem describes the beauty of safflower very well. Although many places in southern China have entered the winter, the garden landscape has been light, but the beautiful flowers of Meirui Honghua are still full of trees, making up for the loneliness of the southern winter green land.

The flowers are clustered into head-shaped inflorescences, with numerous filaments, dark red or pink, which resemble small hydrangeas and are dazzling, contrasting between red and green in the greenery. Like a ball of red hydrangea hung in the tree, it is beautiful, elegant and warm, unique in style, exquisite and lovely, and very eye-catching. The leaves are also very special, resembling a pinnae, lovely green; long flowering period, flowering twice a year, the first time from early March to mid-July, the second from mid-October to early February.

Growth habits:
