With an investment of 7 million euros, DC Fine Chemicals boosts employment and sustainability at its new headquarters

Barcelona, Spain – DC Fine Chemicals, a renowned international supplier of specialized chemical products for sectors such as diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and process solutions, marked a pivotal moment with the ceremonial laying of the first stone at its new headquarters in Terrassa. The event was graced by the Mayor of Terrassa, the Director General of Industry of the Generalitat de Catalunya, along with esteemed organizations like CECOT, the Terrassa Chamber of Commerce, FEDEQUIM, and ESEIAAT.

Expanding beyond its UK base, DC Fine Chemicals is developing a 7,300 square meter complex in Terrassa, tripling the size of its earlier premises. The new structure spans 3,050 square meters, providing ample storage space without the need for external warehouses and boosting palletizing capacity to 1,900 units, a leap from the 900 units in its previous warehouse.

With a comprehensive product range featuring bile acids, nucleic acids, amino acids, antimicrobials, APIs, carbohydrates, dyes, enzymes, excipients, reagents, and biological buffers, DC Fine Chemicals offers customized solutions tailored to client needs. Their unwavering commitment to excellence has earned them ISO 9001 certification since 2011, GDP certification since 2018, and ISO 14001 certification since 2021. The new site is designed to fuel innovative projects and drive further expansion.

 

       

 

Josep Mª Cortés, General Manager of DC Fine Chemicals, remarked, “This substantial initiative, supported by a €7 million investment, not only amplifies our production and storage potential but also propels us toward sustained growth. The upcoming facility, set to triple our present capacity in its initial phase, will feature cutting-edge equipment for managing diverse chemical substances.”

Meanwhile, Juli Orihuela, Director of Business Development, noted during the cornerstone-laying ceremony: “We’ve embarked on the critical phase of constructing this facility. With this expansion, we expect a 20% rise in job creation.”

 

Advancing Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

The new facility, standing at 14.5 meters tall with seven palletizing levels, marks a major step forward in operational safety and efficiency. It also includes 46 parking spots and between two and four electric vehicle charging stations.

The new center showcases significant advancements in sustainability and energy efficiency. Equipped with 108 photovoltaic panels (each 2 x 1 meters), it generates 50 kW, underscoring the company’s dedication to renewable energy and environmental responsibility. The headquarters also features green areas to complement its ecological focus.

In alignment with these principles, DC Fine Chemicals recently received recognition for its environmental commitment by joining the ‘Voluntary Agreements Program for Reducing GHG Emissions’, spearheaded by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

 

Ceremony for the Laying of the First Stone

This morning, the official cornerstone-laying ceremony took place, led by Terrassa’s Mayor, Jordi Ballart i Pastor, and attended by representatives from various economic and business groups.

During the symbolic cornerstone-laying ceremony, participants buried a time capsule containing letters from partners, employee messages, an Erlenmeyer flask symbolizing fine chemistry, a document chronicling the event, warehouse plans, the Terrassa Diary, and current coins.
